Starting DXing
again, I need an online service to keep up with things. So this is a site for my own pleasure, updated with what I want, when needed.
As I don't like Facebook, Instagram, Blogger, Wordpress or other so-called free social media plattform (all they want is to make money on our data), I do this on my own site.
So no need to worry about cookies, ads, fancy hidden gizmos; this is just plain HTML, the way it all once started.

Multimeters, or any ohm meters, are not the best way to see if an antenna wire is intact.
You will often get wrong, or no, results.
It is better to build your own test box, as explained by MW Circle's Martin Hall.
This test box is very simple.
It includes a 9V battery, LED, resistor, and push-on switch in series.
When connected in series with the antenna wire, you close the switch and the LED lights up if there is continuity

The antenna wire is connected to the terminal post on the transformer box.
The wire end the wire is connected to ground through either the termination resistor or thematching transformer -- i.e. in series with the antenna.

If the antenna is intact the LED will light when the button is pressed.
If not, there is a break somewhere, which must be found and repaired.

With this you can test continuity from the near end of the beverage, through the antenna wire, the terminating resistor and back via the ground to the matching transformer earth.
A multimeter is easily confused on its resistance range because the different galvanic action.
It's similar to asking a multimeter to measure the resistance of a battery. A multimeter set on its voltage range will show positive or negative voltages of up to a volt or so due to galvanic action in the beverage and its earth system.

This test box can also be equipped with crocodile clips for ease-of-use.
