Welcome
to DX-Torpet our
small retreat on top of Linderödsåsen, in what is considered
as Sweden's last, southernmost wilderness. It is what in Sweden is called
a "torp" (croft, smallholding).
Thus DX-Torpet.se.
This
is a site for my own pleasure, updated with what I want, when I need
it. At the same time, why not share some ideas on how to go about DXing?
So this is also kind of a payback site, with thanks to all of those
having aided me in all my years of DXing.

| About
this site |
Starting DXing
again, I need an online service to keep up with things. So this is a site
for my own pleasure, updated with what I want, when needed.
As I don't like Facebook, Instagram,
Blogger, Wordpress or other so-called free social media plattform (all they
want is to make money on our data), I do this on my own site.
So no need to worry about cookies, ads,
fancy hidden gizmos; this is just plain HTML, the way it all once started.

A
clear voice in a foggy world
It was bound to happen, that someone would grasp the obvious:

Papua New
Guinea is now considering going back to shortwave, which it closed down
several years ago. Explained NBC's executive director (engineering)
Seloka Lewangu:
"FM is line of sight. If you see the tower, you receive the signal.
When you talk about medium wave, you talk regional. When you talk shortwave,
you talk countrywide". Read
more.
The
MUF's was striking back, briefly
Interest in the Maximum Useable Frequency (MUF) had gone into self-oscillation,
for awhile. Now everything seems
to be best forfotten.
Why
another DX site?
Starting DXing again,
having retired, I created this website for several reasons:
As a DX
info tool,
As a reporting
tool,
As an antenna
tool,
As a QTH
tool,
As a
show off tool.
And having worked as a professional web editor once, why not dust off
some old knowledge to please myself?

So
this is Linderödsåsen
We do get some snow
from time to time; as in early January 2024:

Meaning, well, a lot of shoveling.
When it comes to wildlife, we have it: deer, elk, fox, viper, stork,
crane, black grouse, marten, and, since 2021, wolves.
All just around the
bend, when not in our own back yard.
But this is not just a natural haven, it is also a noiseless haven, and
thus great for DXing
But, alas, windmills, solar panels and switching devices are creeping
closer and closer all the time.
The best solution is to enjoy it all while it last.
