Hidden magic in Jaguar
Many hard core MW DXers use Jaguar, a specialized software for the Perseus SDR. Having bought a used Perseus (they are getting old) I think that it is still a great DX receiver, but not that special anymore. The magic is to be found in the Jaguar software, specifically written for the Perseus SDR. A great application, but also a difficult beast to tame -- not least as Jaguar's master insists on changing a lot of thing constantly.
So this is mycollection of different ways and settings that may help med use Jaguar.

As usual, a lot of changes... these are a few I might find useful:
AUDIO SLIDER -- yet another fancy navigation tool.
TOMCAT -- log database; now with KOJE. And a lot more on these DATABASES...
TIMEBAR -- perhaps useful, we'll see.
FILES -- why not change this too?

The perfect DX recorder
The easist, most efficient way to record with a Perseus is to use Jaguar's free KIT recorder. It is easy to set up, it works flawlessly, and you don't have to run the whole Jaguar caboodle. You can even record two different Perseus on one PC. This is how to do it.

Search, dial and you shall find
To quickly find interesting stuff in hours of recordnings I use there functions: VFO, DIAL and SEARCH. These are my ideas on settings.

Jaguar GIF files for solar reference
This software creates GIF files with local reception data, which can be used to compare local reception with more central data in, say, Boulder or Potsdam.
However, the setup for this is flawed as all you get is a daily x.gif file. So you need a script to rename a lot of "x"-files to a better yyyy-MM-dd format.
This script will do that -- with help from ChatGPT.

More jaguar wisdom

Fully portable
Jaguar is portable -- meaning that nothing is written to Windows registry. You just take any Jaguar folder and copy it somewhere else, and you're done. Well, if you remember two things:
1. Install Jaguar under your C: drive (or other, if you prefer that), not in Windows' program files.
2. That your Jaguar registry file is computer sensitive, meaning that on another computer you'll need a new key. But you could run it as a stripped down "lite version".

Jaguar on none-Perseus receivers
Jaguar is as closely integrated with the Perseus SDR as you can ever imagine. But you can use recordings from other SDR´s, mainly those from SDRplay. This is how you do that.

Best audio settings
These are the good, basic audio settings:
Use the CALLIOPE filter in STUDIO mode, and a 3.6 kHz bandwith with an offset of -0.1 kHz.
Use the WAV16 output sampling mode
Keep AUTONOTCH ON
Keep CR (Click Remover) OFF
Disable the AGC when studying weak signals or making audio clips with CLIPPER.

Another option is "Soft Audio" -- can be used to handle short burst/peaks in the audio from electric fences, electric devices, etc. (Unclear how well it functions with thunder bursts),
